I left school at 16. I don’t think my family thought you could gain much from an education, you just needed to be resilient and decent, and for them preferably a good Catholic.
My work initially was as an accounts assistant, before the boredom killed me and a career advisor suggested I move the the new department of health and social security offices in Norwich, or as I knew them soon after the department of stealth and total obscurity. So that lasted another six months before l decided I might benefit from going back to school. More later as I have got to go to bed.
