Arrived as the car park was closed, being reorganised there was no one in pro shop and had difficulty finding secretary
The chef was only catering for societies. After a little persuasion he agreed he could provide a sausage bap which was perfect.
Pro shop opened and the pro sent me to the first as I waited for my tee time John and Tony arrived and after the formalities of hand shakes and name exchanges we started off the whites on the first.
So once again fantastic company found on the golf course, who knew such was possible . The golf on the first 9 wasn’t great but the course looked fantastic with a lot of Braid doglegs and bunkers and ditches and trees in the middle of the fairways. As the round went on I got better shooting 39 on the more difficult back nine having hit 48 with two lost balls on the front.
Lots of stories were exchanged mostly Liverpool related as these two were avid fans of many a year and had been celebrating the night before. The pro had been at the game which was the explanation for the late arrival.
A small bit of Golf interest in that I met the longest serving member of a golf club in one N Littler who has been a member of Hensby golf club for over 75 years and he was in the bar playing bridge at 97 . So there is hope for us all!!
