It has been very handy having two reciprocal golf courses, both established in 1901, within 20 mins of each other. It has meant I have been able to set up camp here in Fairoaks campsite for 3 nights with a hook up and charge up all my electronics, golf batteries and Leisure battery.

So how was Chester? The golf course really reminded me of Sunridge park, punctuated with ditches and streams, with some wonderful views and a number of elevated tees, from which you could let it fly, so to speak. It actually helped my driving get back to something nearer it’s best

The course was however very quiet. I was told the busy week is next week when the racing is on. It was in beautiful condition the fairways were still lush which again gave the iron play confidence. I scored quite well, going round in 88. I would absolutely recommend a weekend in Chester. Bring the family and play these two courses for nowt, if you are a Gogs member.

Am looking forward to my trip to St Anne’s Lytham tomorrow for a dose of links golf, although the body was complaining today in this unseasonably hot afternoon. Must not complain. Can’t imagine doing this on a wet week.
