My day off started well, getting a coffee and use of loo from my hosts Rob and Nicky and sneaked a little cuddle with Zara.

I went for a walk with Rob and the dog around his local park Lieth Links, only to come across the place where the rules of golf were written. Enjoyed the read no end. See if you can make out the rules.

Then got a lift from Rob into town to have a look at Edinburgh without the Festival. I wondered around had breakfast at one of our favourite places, that is always packed during the festival, it was so quiet. Had a really enjoyable time walking the Royal mile at 8am and a better view of the City. Before getting the bus back to Leith links to make my way to the Campsite, which was 15 miles south near Haddington.

However my interest in golf history had been sparked so as I took the tourist route along the coast I found myself outside the Royal Musselburgh golf club. The clubhouse is a castle! Matching Moor Park in the most impressive clubhouse nominations. Any more suggestions? So I thought I might pop in there for a late lunch, which turned out to be a haggis roll with mustard.

Well one thing leads to another, I couldn’t resist asking in the pro shop if there were spaces. He said he could get me on for £37 and it seemed just too good an opportunity to miss.
1744 that is a long time ago, I wonder what they said about the greens? Next with Bruntsfield coming up this could turn into the oldest golf club tour.
I played pretty well and had time to sort out my driving and try another different grip for my putting which, those who know me will be aware, a new grip will last two months before it needs changing again.
Anyway now suitably ensconced in my campsite, hell of a time putting up the Awning in the wind. Realised I am about to run out of clean underwear. Does one
a. Go commando
b. Find a laundry
c. Buy new underwear
I will let you know tomorrow.
