So the second of the three opens entered, as I mentioned, extortion at £20. What a really lovely, full of families, golf club. Children playing on the chipping area with the members, clubhouse full from breakfast to the Argentinian BBQ.

The clubhouse is situated in what used to be the manor grounds, with follies and walled gardens punctuating the course. The river running alongside doesn’t really feature, but the views were often stunning.
The club has invested in a new driving range and short game area near the clubhouse and altered the first hole. The interesting fact here is, that a member, disgruntled about the balls getting so dirty in the winter, built a ‘heath Robinson,’ ball washing machine out of a barrel and an old golf trolley motor and wheels. The balls were beautifully clean. Although my body, particularly back, objected to hitting them. 5 days to go.

I was introduced to Kieth and Dave from Seahouses Golf Club who had come up for the day and were to be my playing partners. Here they are in front of the Quarry hole. Up a steep hill over a quarry, which if you don’t reach you have to play from a drop zone as the ‘wall’ is too steep and apparently there have been accidents.
I played quite badly for nine and quite well for the next nine 49 and 40 which was to my handicap, which I was quite pleased with on an unknown course. This pattern is becoming quite the norm. Loosening up I think.
So what about the underwear. Well after my game I took the opportunity to visit a few charity shops in Haddington and found a few pairs of sports socks for a pound.

However after visiting three shops – no underpants of any kind to be found, not even in their reasonably sized Tesco. What do they use for underwear in this part of Scotland. So it was, that I have had to resort to the Laundry Room at the campsite and at this very moment in time my clothes are in the drier. Fresh socks and undies for the rest of the journey though.

While the clothes were being washing I took myself for what was ha very bracing walk to the beach, just to make sure my steps didn’t drop below 22,000. It is a lovely beach I even had a little childhood recall seeing crabs and anemones in the rock pools.
